According to scientists, Cockroach milk is rich in key nutrients, such as protein and fatty acids, which tend to be found in lower levels in non-dairy milk products. This may make cockroach milk a desirable alternative to cow’s milk from a health perspective.
Cockroach milk is unexpectedly high in proteins, fats, and carbohydrates; it’s one of the only known milk alternatives to have all nine amino acids. But, with all of that nutritional content comes a high-calorie count; it’s believed that roach milk has around three times as many calories as cow milk. But, it also seems to be much higher in many vital nutrients than traditional dairy milk.
Roaches milk is very high in nutrients and also lactose-free, making it theoretically suitable non-dairy milk alternative. The study, published in the Journal of the International Union of Crystallography, found that cockroach milk contains three times more calories than the equivalent mass of buffalo milk, which currently holds the prize for the most calorie-rich milk from a mammal. Roaches milk also contains protein and amino acids, which could potentially be valuable to human health.
Ever since it was first discovered, cockroach milk has been raved about for its nutritional content. According to studies, it has up to three times the energy content of cow milk. After the birth of the offspring, these Pacific beetle cockroaches, like other mammals, produce milk as a nutritional food for their babies. According to Barbara Stay, a zoologist at the University of Iowa, the liquid substance produced in the gut of such cockroaches has much higher constituents like proteins, fats, and sugar along with all the essential amino acids compared to other mammalian milk.
Roach milk is a protein-rich, crystallized substance produced by the Diploptera punctata cockroach as a source of nourishment for its young. Although it’s very nutritious, it’s difficult to mass-produce. On the other hand, the downside of cockroach milk is that it is three times more calories than cow’s milk.
Therefore, too much of this milk can cause obesity or weight issues. Pregnant women and children should avoid its consumption as there’s no proof of its effectiveness in these cases.
